Greetings Open Streets supporters!
We are thrilled to announce that the Vanderbilt Avenue Open Street is returning in 2026! We are gearing up to again run on a Saturday-only schedule from May through September. This schedule would mark the first season in four years where there would be no reduction in operating hours — something we are beyond excited about! We are counting on your support to ensure the 7th Vanderbilt season is a success and we can continue to offer new and exciting benefits every year. Will you contribute to help make this a reality?

There are a few changes this year which we are also very excited about. First, volunteers have created a new nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, Prospect Heights Open Streets, Inc., to operate the program this year! This new structure, dedicated to Open Streets and related work, means a more nimble organization and will reduce the administrative work of running the program, and hopefully lead to an even better experience for volunteers and patrons alike. This also means 2026 is an important fundraising year for us, so please consider making a contribution.
The second change is a more obvious one: we have a new mayor in City Hall! It was no secret that Mayor Adams was not a supporter of Open Streets; but, Mayor Mamdani very much is. With new city leadership and a new organization taking the reins, we’re confident that the best is yet to come for Vanderbilt Avenue.
As always, thank you for your years of support.
In solidarity,
Vanderbilt Open Street organizers.
